Blue Monday........

An aircraft not frequently experienced by many Irish travellers but has been in service with over 20 airlines since July 2016, the Airbus A220 is due to make an appearance at Farnborough 2024 – in jetBlue livery.

US airline, jetBlue operate more than 30 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, the first arriving in December 2020. The 140 seat, 3 – 2 configured aircraft replaced the airlines fleet of Embraer E-190’s. Many of the new fleet portray a ‘special’ livery which is always interesting for customers even more so for enthusiasts to follow.

A common theme with jetBlue aircraft titles, is the inclusion of the word ‘blue’ forming part of every name, not an easy task, so full marks to the in-house sub-committee responsible. The final jetBlue A220-300 in this order, due for delivery July ’24, will be ‘christened’ Someone Like Blue (N3195J). Could this be the fleet member lining up at Farn-Blue?

The New-York based airline has recently commenced flights to Dublin with A321neo’s. Dublin followed Edinburgh which followed the two London routes, Gatwick & Heathrow. Arriving across the Atlantic from Ireland & the UK, passengers can dial into the airlines extensive US domestic network and possibility climb aboard a jetBlue A220-300 and experience the large windows, funky asymmetric seating, quiet cabin refinement and an overall high-end quality feel.

While US airline, Delta Air Lines operates the largest fleet of A220’s with 71 in total, made up of 45 x A220-100’s and 26 x A220-300’s, over in Europe airBaltic’s current fleet measures 47 x A220-300’s and Air France has 36 flying and launch customer Swiss International Air Lines totals 30 examples, 9 x 100’s and 21 x 300’s.
